Specs compared

How we chose these

We pulled every prebuilt desktop from our catalogue that ships with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU: 5 priced listings matched, after folding duplicate listings of the same model 5 remained, and we picked all 5. Because the pool is this small, every desktop is included; ZOTAC and Skytech Gaming are the established makers among them. Each pick was compared on its GPU tier (RTX 3050 to RTX 5060), RAM capacity (16GB or 32GB), storage capacity, and the operating system listed. No unit was tested or handled by our staff. Prices shown are live from the store listing and are updated hourly.

What to look for

Graphics: which GPU fits your games?

The GPU is the most important component for gaming. In this list, the NVIDIA RTX 3050 (6GB) in three picks handles esports and older titles at 1080p on medium to high settings. The RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 (Blackwell generation, 8GB each) support current DLSS features and newer ray tracing cores for better results in modern AAA games and at 1440p. If you play competitive games like Valorant or Fortnite, a lower-tier GPU is sufficient; for Cyberpunk 2077 or Alan Wake 2 at high settings, choose the RTX 5060.

RAM: how much do you need?

16GB of RAM is enough for most current games and everyday tasks, and four of the five picks ship with it. 32GB, found only in the Skytech Storm, gives you headroom for streaming, recording or running several applications while gaming. The Ryzen 5 5500 supports dual-channel memory; make sure the desktop uses two sticks for best performance.

Storage: SSD type and capacity

Every pick lists an SSD; only the ZYNEEX states that its drive is NVMe. Storage capacity ranges from 512GB to 1TB. 512GB fills up with a few modern game installations (some exceed 100GB each). 1TB, in four of the five picks, is a comfortable baseline for a game library. If you keep many games installed at once, plan on adding a second drive.

Operating system and features

Four of the five picks list Windows 11 Home, which supports DirectX 12 Ultimate and Auto HDR; the ZYNEEX listing does not state an operating system. Windows 11 Pro (not present in this pool) adds BitLocker and Remote Desktop. Always check whether the OS is included before buying.

Questions

Is the AMD Ryzen 5 5500 good for gaming?

Yes, the Ryzen 5 5500 is a six-core, twelve-thread processor based on the Zen 3 architecture. It handles modern games well, especially when paired with a mid-range GPU like the RTX 5050 or RTX 5060 in this list. It may hold back a very high-end GPU in CPU-heavy scenarios, but for 1080p and 1440p gaming with the cards listed here it is a reasonable match.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage on these desktops?

Most prebuilt desktops with the Ryzen 5 5500 use standard DDR4 DIMM slots and M.2 or SATA drive connections. The STGAubron and ZYNEEX units likely have accessible internals, though specifics are not stated by the seller. The ZOTAC MEK and Skytech Storm are from known brands, but check the manufacturer's documentation for exact slot and drive bay information before planning an upgrade.

Which is better: RTX 3050 or RTX 5060?

The RTX 5060 is a newer, higher-tier card: NVIDIA lists it with 8GB of memory and Blackwell features, while the RTX 3050 in these picks has 6GB and belongs to the older Ampere generation. If you plan to play demanding games or at higher resolutions, the RTX 5060 in the ZOTAC MEK is the better choice. The RTX 3050 suits esports, older titles and entry builds. Compare both on NVIDIA's official comparison page.

Does the Ryzen 5 5500 support Windows 11?

Yes, the Ryzen 5 5500 meets the Windows 11 system requirements, including TPM 2.0 support (via firmware) and a compatible 64-bit processor. Four of the five desktops in this list come with Windows 11 Home preinstalled; the ZYNEEX listing does not state an operating system, so confirm it before buying.
